web design ideas

1. this is so very sweet. the illustrations are great.

2. simplebits is a pretty fantastic one-man company. interesting use of ampersand in text. (note: look at stylesheet and figure out how.) predominant colours dark blue/navy, green, light green. serif font in navigation looks classy.

3. the churches in america must have lots of cash. they all have ‘designed’ sites. no animated gifs. anyways, the artwork of this site is nice, especially the texture and patterns used on the images in the middle of the site. site breaks when text is increased. colours: navy, purple (on this screen, anways) orange/yellow in pic.

4. i really like the way the information works on this site except their own name is lost. colours: light to dark grey.

5. another church site. the effect on the photo edges is really nice. worn white edges with drop shadow. colours are mainly browns and oranges. sunbeam effect on some of the photos. flash movie of photos is not bad

6. and another one. definitely some similarities through church website design. worn photo edges, flash picture show, photo album references. the colours on this site are greens and blues.

7. fantastic faded artwork.

8. i really like the textures on this portfolio site. also a good idea to keep it all to one page if it’s not too text/image heavy. most important information at the top. really nice. main colours: browns, orange/red

9. this is a nice way of organising information so that it is easy to find. this designer designed the leah chun website. main colours dark grey/red/maroon.

10. this site manages a lot of information well.

11. this is another portfolio site for a sole webdesigner. everything important on the first page including contact form. friendly and understated. v.nice. mainly light blue, and light brown (?) on this monitor at least. This style of presentation breaks up the usual header, nav, text layout.

12. small webdesign company.

13. i’m a sucker for those photos with the worn edges. they are edge-llent! oh dear.

14. worth noting because it’s a standards-site and some further investigation of code etc should take place. by me. the dimensions look a little wonky to me - the second column wants to be bigger, i think. but what do i know? not much, really. the artwork is nice. colour scheme is greens/olive/yellow/orange.

15. pretty classy.

I think that will do for today. I think I have seen every possible variation of lime in the world.
