mostly for my own reference

A couple of weeks ago a nutritionist from my health insurance company called me as part of a program they are running to ensure their clients live long and don’t make any claims. We talked about healthy eating and healthy sleep-cycles and healthy exercise regimes and wouldn’t you know, I am pretty much unhealthy.

So I read the info she sent me and implemented change (with no risk analysis).

In the last couple of weeks I have been:

eating lunch (must include vegetables)

eating breakfast (must include fruit)

cutting back caffeine. this includes black tea. i knew black tea had caffeine in it, I just hadn’t realised how much. now i drink ‘quietly chamomile’. sometimes i drink it loudly to be subversive

snacking on walnuts instead of tim-tams.

trying to drink eight glasses of water a day. who can actually manage this? it’s impossible. the closest i can come is five glasses and then i feel like my organs are floating around inside my body. which is unpleasant.

walking 30 minutes a day - this one is easier now i use the dog’s whining as a motivational tool.

healthy sleeping habits where there is no screen-time for two hours before bed and there is regular going to bed time and getting up time. not quite there on this one.

there’s other optional stuff too, like drinking yakult, but i wouldn’t want to go overboard and become bionic woman so a level of caution here is a must.

  1. Right, the 8 glasses a day thing.

I have several glasses in my home, shot glasses, brandy glasses, champagne glasses, white & red wine glasses, pint glasses. A definite theme to be sure, but that’s beside the point. I want some clarification as to what size glass because I can knock back 8 shots, but 8 pints requires more commitment…
