Where have I been?
1. Mostly in the study. And sometimes the couch.
2. Continuing the search for the meaning of family. Some blog waves created by this NYT article Your Gamete Myself and related interview with the author. Search for meaning continues. And very belated thankyou for all comments on past two posts.
3. This reminds me that one, at university, I undertook a subject called ‘Search For Meaning’, which I failed. Heed the warning.
4. I have a cold.
Hey chick! Long time no blog. Work internet access issues to blame, though I just remembered today that blogs are on limits which is nice.
Congrats on the birth of your little treasure Drew, that’s awesome. The dilemna you speak of is something a mate of mine had been preparing for before their little one came into the world too. She’s like ‘If one more person calls me Dad, I’ll kill them.’ I guess it’s hard for the community to know if any labels are suitable because it’s often the first time we’re experiencing same sex parents too. We just refer to them now as the wonderful parents they are, just ticked over three months and are starting to enjoy the experience, get out of the house all in one group together, and adjust to all the new relationships they are adapting to with each other, with Finn (yes, Finn), and with us as their mates. To manage all of that on little sleep, while working, is something I have to give you great credit for. Enjoy that search for the balance, and the little times in between. xo
ohmigoodness sarah g. how are you? thankyou for your comment. it’s interesting that your friends went through a similar process of trying to define what roles they will play. the more people i talk to in my situation, the more i realise that what i/we have been thinking and talking about is really normal.
i think there may be a book in this somewhere for a savvy psychologist.
