Childcare, houses, pretending to be an adult etc
When it comes to the being an adult business I feel I am seriously underqualified. These are some of the adult things we are working on at the moment:
We’ve been watching house prices scale impressive heights in West Footscray. Now we’re looking at Sunshine and Maidstone and Braybrook and wondering how you pull together a deposit when your rent also climbs. We’ll figure it out.
Next week we tour some childcare places for the Twinkle. She’ll be in childcare 2 days a week from January. I have mixed feelings about this. But ultimately I think if one of us were to stay home full-time then that way madness lies. Eilis thinks they’ll all feel a bit like baby factories. I think I might agree.
I have consolidated my superannuation.
I think these are all the adult things I have managed of late. There are some things I have managed that are quite teenage, and a few that are truly infantile. I will not recount these.
This blogging everyday business is quite tricky.
it’s true that i said they’d all feel like baby factories, but i also said that i think our twinkle will enjoy hanging out i the baby factory. possibly more than she enjoys hanging out at home every day.
also, in the adult-things list, there was the time you saved me from a serious meltdown in the face of feeling like an inadequate parent last night. thank you.
they do feel like baby factories when you go and visit and you only seem to notice the kids that are crying, have snotty noses or smell like they have a pooey bum. and leaving her there on the first day will feel like the hardest thing you’ve ever done.
while I’d have felt more politically correct using a community-based centre, our experience with the local branch of the big corporate has been all good. Finn has loved it and Leila is enjoying it. She loves hanging out with the big(ger) kids - she’s the youngest baby there - and I’m sure ms twinkle will too.
thanks nicky.
i think d will enjoy the other kids.
we initially planned to go with the community-based centre, but we’re open to the big corporates now. whatever centre seems the best fit, and can find a spot for the twinkle.
