reality meet fantasy

i imagine a reality where i saved money every week from my first job onwards instead of investing in cds and …  actually i’m not sure what else i bought but i remember not cooking much … this place is so beautiful it makes me want to … i don’t know … rob a bank?

by the time i am a grey nomad i may perhaps be able to afford something like that.

in other news the baby is working on more teeth. she is chewing everything and drooling and has an explosive bum, which means she got kicked out of childcare on thursday.

and a bad parenting moment: the childcare centre rang me at lunchtime thursday and asked me to pick her up. in the 20 minutes it took to leave work and drive to the centre she had gone to sleep. i gently, gently picked her up, wrapped her up, slowly, slowly walked with the sleeping baby out of the nursery bedroom, was very quiet and gentle so as not to wake her up, then cracked her head on the door-frame.

there was another bad parenting moment on wednesday when i wiped her nose on her top because it had reached critical mass and there was no spare cloths nearby and my mother looked at me like she had entered the world of ferals. not helped by earlier at lunchtime her encouraging me to clean the tray of the high chair and my first response being, “it’ll only get dirty again”.

No wonder the kid’s always sick.
